Life in Danbury

Danbury named a top place to live

Conveniently located 90 minutes from New York City, but far enough to feel like a world away, Danbury was recently named one of the 100 most livable places in America. Danbury has all of the conveniences of bigger cities, but in a more bucolic and peaceful setting among the rolling hills of Western Connecticut. The Greater Danbury area is home to some of the best public schools in the country, great restaurants with a variety of cuisines, a full slate of local fairs and festivals, you-pick farms, and all sorts of family friendly activities.

Additionally, Danbury is a go-to destination for outdoors enthusiasts. The Danbury area has a variety of State parks with miles of hiking trails through forests, streams and lakes for fishing, and rivers for paddle sports. In fact, Danbury was just named the #3 fishing destination in the USA, with Candlewood Lake being named the most productive lake for anglers. In the winter, it's just a short drive to skiing and tubing adventures.

Living in New England is different from the rest of the country. When you are in an area that was settled in the 17th century, there is history everywhere around you. The charm of centuries old buildings set among the trees can make you feel like you are living in a Norman Rockwell painting. The surrounding towns have great Main Streets, but that doesn't mean that Danbury is frozen in time either. Danbury is one of the most diverse cities in Connecticut, proving a tapestry of cultures that have migrated through the area over the years.
